Walrus and Filecoin are both decentralized storage networks, each with unique tokenomics and valuation metrics. A key metric for assessing these projects is the Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV), which estimates the network's total market capitalization assuming all tokens are in circulation.

Walrus (WAL):

• Total Token Supply: 5,000,000,000 WAL

• Initial Circulating Supply: 1,250,000,000 WAL

• Token Distribution:

• 10% allocated for an initial community airdrop

• 28.43% reserved for core contributors and early backers

• 61.57% dedicated to ecosystem growth initiatives

As of March 20, 2025, the WAL token is not yet publicly traded, ( Launch Date: 3/27/2025) making it challenging to calculate an exact FDV. However, the Walrus Foundation recently secured $140 million in funding, indicating a strong valuation and investor confidence

Filecoin (FIL):

• Total Token Supply: 2,000,000,000 FIL

• Circulating Supply: Approximately 400,000,000 FIL

• Current Token Price: $5.00 per FIL

• Market Capitalization: $2,000,000,000 (Circulating Supply × Token Price)

• Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV): $10,000,000,000 (Total Supply × Token Price)

Comparison:

While Filecoin's FDV is currently estimated at $10 billion, Walrus's FDV cannot be precisely determined until the WAL token becomes publicly traded. Nonetheless, the substantial funding secured by the Walrus Foundation suggests a significant valuation, positioning it as a noteworthy competitor in the decentralized storage space.

• Same as Filecoin FDV: $2.00

• 2X Filecoin FDV: $4.00
